Reviewed from notes from 2 bottles at 2D2DSpuma in Barcelona. Torxa was apparently brewed special for the Barcelona Beer Festival in March 2013. Enjoyed in June 2013. According to the brewer's website it uses Chinook, Simcoe, Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin hops, and some smoked malt.

Torxa pours on the dark side of copper and murky, which seems to be SOP for Spanish IPAs. Not much head retention. The nose is nicely hoppy, with citrus dominant. The taste is juicy and fruity, with medium bitterness. Nicely balanced. I don't detect any smoke at all in the taste or the nose, though. Mouthfeel is creamy with medium carbonation.

Torxa can't compete with the better IPAs stateside, but it was a perfectly solid effort. Highly enjoyable. If they brew it again it's certainly worth a try.
