Amber in color; I was expecting it to be more clear. A rather viscous looking body sports about a one finger head. Lacing is okay. Immediately I was hit with a tangerine/clementine aroma brimming with notes of an onion-like mustiness on the side. Malt also makes its way into the aroma and presents itself in the form of sugary caramel. Bitterness was a bit of a shock to me honestly and was a a bit strange. Initially it comes across as sweet and then the bitterness hit me when I put the glass down; A sort of delayed bitterness. I do get what summit is typically characterized as: Oniony, musty, slightly piney, but there is another great fruity element that I feel is characterized more in the kin of its lineage, them being Simcoe and Citra. The sip leaves me with sticky lips, and its a tad too dense and sugary for me in terms of drink-ability. Summit is a great hop , i use it frequently in home brews, and is severely under appreciated IMO. Good beer and would happily drink again.

Smell is good with his grapefruit, lemon and caramel scents.
In mouth, tastefull but flavorless. Hint of citrus, hint of caramel, hint of pepper, hint of alcohol...Lot of aromas but nothing is out. Low carbonation doesn't help.
Bitterness is short and almost dry. It would be a good beer if something stood out

Pours a disappointingly clear, copper amber color with minimal head, yet some nice lacing. This looks completely filtered which is a big let down...
N: Very sweet malts as expected from the dark color of the beer, overpowering to be honest. Not as much hop aromas as I was expecting, maybe some apricot, a tad citrus.
T: sweet malts, mild grapefruity bitterness. Lacks complexity. Alcohol masking is also quite poor, this has a bit of a burn
M: medium bodied, light-medium carbonation, and very sticky...
O: Severely lacks complexity, I feel like charlevoix can do better, they specialize in belgian style ales, but as for their vache folle line, the stout and porter are spectacular, so i dont doubt their brewing skills, but their IPA's are just lacking complexity, also the malt used is way too dark i was hoping for a hazy yellow-orange citrusy IPA but this is like an overly bitter amber ale, barely any hop character. This was a big disappointment. However at 9%, 500ml gave me a nice end of the day buzz :)

Bottle: Poured a golden amber color ale with a nice large of foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus hops is quite pleasant with light sweet malt notes also noticeable. Taste is also dominated by grapefruit notes with some citrus notes also noticeable, mild bitterness and some residual sugars can be detected in the malt profile. Body is about average with good carbonation. I absolutely love this brewery but I can help to think that their dry hopping technique could be refined.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy deep copper/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves some nice lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of grapefruit, light apricots, herbal hops, light bread and sweet caramelly malts.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has some grapefruit, a piney/grassy bitterness, light bread, some toffee and sweet caramelly malts.
Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a decent overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by good flavors and aromas. This beer has the potential of being something great but the hops seem overpowered by the malts. Still enjoyable.

A:
Pours a clear copper color with a tight finger and a half of cream-like head that settles fairly quickly to an all right film . Meh retention; little polkadots of lacing. (3.5)
S:
Fresh and fruity. Delicate grapefruit pith and caramel intermingling a little pineyness. (4)
T:
Crazy sweet and tart! Grapefruit (like it was juice), lemon, tart twinge in the middle and then a tingly piney earth finish, some sweet malt notes underneath but mainly citrusy hops. (4.25)
M:
Sweet and slippery with a soft effervescence and a lingering finish that is a touch sticky, but nice and bitter to combat it. (3.75)
O:
Delicious beer.
I'm not conscious of ever having had Summit hops before, but I am quite certain now that I just didn't know it. Holy shit. On the first drink it was like drinking some sort of juice. Super fruity a bit resinous and sweet bready warmth underneath.
Pours okay, but certainly less impressive than other beers from these fine folks. It is as one-dimensional as one might expect from a single hop IIPA, with loads of grapefruit that would bring Raoul Duke to his knees. The beer is fairly drinkable but with its ABV it is definitely pushing it a bit for me.
It really does a great job of showcasing the Summit in its intensely citric aroma and tangy grapefruit-bloodorange-sage-like smell and taste with a little sweet malt underneath to hold it all up. In that sense it is pretty much perfect; but either way it is a solid beer; though I imagine it may drop off in the next month or so.
About time I happen upon one of these with a printed date. I thought I never would, and only 19 days old!
Will probably go back and get one more bottle to try in a while; worth jumping on if you see it. (4.25)
