Opaque, deep woody-brown body with a typical Charlevoix head: a dense, well-laced finger of beige head hangs around for a while.

Very yeasty nose with alcohol, roast malt, bread and earthy hops. Not terribly complex but nice enough.

Roast malt is featured with this one, presenting notes of toasted nuts and hints of smoke. Belgian yeast is obvious but it's not adding much if any spice character. Earthy hops intensify through the finish. Alcohol is maybe what you would expect at 8% ABV; apparent but not overdone. Not a complex beer, just a well-balanced brown ale with Belgian yeast.

Nice medium-full body with a full moderate carbonation. Charlevoix doesn't really ever disappoint with the mouthfeel of their beers.

Not a bad strong brown ale but at this price I'd much rather pick up their Lupulus; this one's not really in the same league.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma consists of spicy undertones with semi-sweet Belgian malt base and light candi sugar. Taste is also a great mix between some sweet Belgian malt notes with a spicy yeast strain and some light dry fruits notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not re-inventing the wheel with this offering though very well executed for the style and very enjoyable.
