Dryer then your typical English Barleywine, this ale is both well balanced and intensely flavorful. Malty notes lead to dark fruit, caramel and bready character with a port like character that is perfectly complimented by the oak and subtle wine character of the pinot noir barrels it’s aged in. Pair this with gorgonzola cheese, Shepard’s pie, or drink it by itself as a great stand alone pint.

I had a 10 oz. pour, then went back for seconds, at the Perkasie location.
L. Brown with amber highlights, small slightly off-white head hangs around for a half hour and leaves a handsome lacing.
S. Smells of flowers, oak, toffee, a little spicy booze.
T. Oak, toffee, caramel, sweet dark fruits, a little bit smoky or boozy or something, finishes with a nice balancing bitterness that is again reminiscent of flowers.
F. Medium to full body, smooth.
O. Delicious malty barleywine with a subtle but unique quality. I would certainly recommend the Bonesaw. Cheers ! ! !

On-tap 3/13/2016 at Natty Greene’s Tavern in North Attleboro, MA, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, strong oak aging essence, fruit, brown sugar and some hops.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, dark fruit and brown sugar. Then a hearty malt character comes in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean for the style.
O: Tasty, goes down dangerously easy, not too filling, well-disguised strong kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a long time.

This was a hazy golden honey color, it came with a short lived frothy white cap.
Aromas oak and toffee dominate. Some vinous fruit emerged as it warmed. I tasted strong toffee and some sharp sherry. I also found oaky tannins and hint of grape at the finish. Overall this was an enjoyable, mellow b-wine. The pinot noir barrel effect was subdued but intriguing.
