Pours a deep black with a short cap of brown head. The aroma is like an Almond joy, toasted coconut and milk chocolate. The taste is similar. The toasted coconut shines through with bitter cocoa in the finish. The mouthfeel is rich and full bodied. It's perfectly carbed. This is a very enjoyable beer.

2022 Edition - 11.2% ABV

Viscous black pour yields half beer half fluffy mocha foam and has me wondering if they made use of a nitro widget. I don't think they did, even though it does briefly do the cascading thing down the sides of the glass. Head quickly settles into two solid fingers which eventually dissolves to a sheen with a sloid wall of lace. You can really pick out the coconut on the nose. It's like hacking open a fresh one on the beach with a machete. Or something. Smells invitingly boozy as well. Just a big, boozy desert stout on the nose. Tastes of fresh coconut cut with a chocolate-y sweetness. Definitely sweet, but balanced with a mild bitterness and boozy sting on the back end. Mouthfeel is thick, soft and dangerously drinkable with minimal carbonation. Good lord this is good. I think my last review on this site mentioned that I wasn't too keen on sweet stouts, but I need to amend that because this is phenomenal. Reminds me of those dangerously crushable Southern Tier desert stouts from years back. Not a cheap date, but pick one up if it's available in your neck of the woods.

A - Dark brown and almost black in color with thin tan lacing.

S - Delicate chocolate roast, char, and some booziness.

T - Light chocolate and cocoa roast with some alcohol booziness.

M - Thick and viscous.

O - The coconut character in this beer is pretty much 'nill which is a let down, but the overall beer is really nice.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is part of a trade with my brother Brian. Thanks bro!
The beer a dark black coffee brown hue with a fizzy beige head of 1 cm foaming up. This foam fades quickly to a sturdy surface layer that sticks around during my sampling and leaves some scattered lattice on my glass after each sip.
The aroma is milk chocolate and some slight roasted malt notes and good bit of coconut sweetness too. Some brown sugar notes show up too, generally sweet nose
No hop presence and the ABV is well hidden at over 10.4%.
The first sip reveals a medium to thick body with sticky texture and mild spacious carbonation. Pretty hefty yet drinkable physical traits.
Flavor is what I would expect based on the nose with sweet chocolate and roasted malts mixing with a good hit of brown sugar and the coconut lingers on the finish. The beer is dangerously drinkable for 10.5% and I adjust my drinking plans after emptying this can.
Glad to have tried this one and it is a well made big imperial stout. Looking forward to the other variant that I received in this deal.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

As per the brewery, "Imperial Oatmeal Stout with Coconut, Chocolate, and Milk Sugar "

L: Dark, dark mahogany brown pour. Nearly black with thin off-white head. Nice lacing around the glass

S: Chocolate. Cocoa and sweets.

T.F: Sweet up front. Milk chocolate and lactose. Faint espresso... roasted grains gives some balance but definitely on the sweet side. Very mild coconut towards the finish... but still way more chocolate than coconut. Medium bodied... slightly boozy. More complex as it warms.

O: A well executed sweet chocolate milk stout. Solid work as always from Free Will.
