Each Ralphius variant was designed to highlight the different facets of our complex blended bourbon barrel aged stout. This version was aged for an additional year in bourbon barrels, providing a smoother, more luscious fudge character.

Im sampling a 12.7 oz bottle poured into my snifter at cellar temp. Vintage 2020, aged an additional yearish in my cellar. Part of a swap with @rolltide8425 Thank you!
the beer pours a jet black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. A loud fizzy tan head appears out of the bottle but is gone almost immediately as the pour enters the glass. the thinnest of edge layers remains in my glass and creates very small dense lattice when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is bold and robust even without getting close to the snifter. I get dark chocolate and some molasses, mixing with bourbon and fudge brownie notes. There is a little booziness here with some plum or raisin scent mixed in, but the dark fudge brownie and sweet bourbon seems to take over the nose. No hop character here.
First sip reveals a big thick body with smooth and dense texture. Very fine and gentle carbonation that fizzes across my palate and then disappears. Beer feels like a sipper, but does drink very easy for what it is.
Flavor is dark chocolate, some raisin, bourbon and again fudge brownie, which dominates flavor too. I also get a bit of barrel character and maybe some charred burnt wood too. But the bourbon lingers after the swallow. no hops here and the booze is a little warm as it drops to my belly. So the ABV lets itself be found.
This is a very enjoyable brew on this rainy cold evening. Very glad to have this and wish I had another bottle.

375 ml bottle, 2020 vintage

Pours black, dark brown colored head that fades. Strong bourbon aroma, boozy oak, along with dark cocoa, char, molasses, pipe tobacco, raisin. Similar flavors in the taste, pretty complex. Full bodied, lower carbonation.

Medium thick pour with minimal head, just a tiny bit of lacing with nice legs.

Smell is roasty malts, dark chocolate, licorice, oak and bourbon.

Taste follows the nose with the additional of some sweet vanilla.

Solid thick, almost chewy feel with some very subtle carbonation and a nice alcohol warming in the end.

Tasty BA stout that I am glad too have had.

This seriously tastes just like CBS. I mean that as a high, high compliment. I love that this beer comes from a brewery 10 miles from me. Fantastic price too!!

Matte black with a half finger of short-lived, dark-tan head. It maintains a decent crown, but leaves no lacing.

Big bourbon and dark malts in the nose: chocolate, dark fruits, leather, toffee, alcohol.

Beautiful, dark, char-like sweetness in the taste. Vanilla, dark fruit, wood, light ash, dark chocolate, caramel. Lingering warming alcohol and tobacco for balance.

Smooth, medium bodied, lightly sticky feel with enough carbonation to keep it lively.

Absolutely delicious. The barrel and malts really work together nicely.
