Black with a plum-colored hue and a short, fizzy dark-mocha head that quickly settles into a thin crown that leaves no lacing.

Surprisingly dry aroma with a little nut, red wine — maybe a hint of chocolate, but certainly not as decadent as most Ralphius offerings.

The taste definitely does have chocolate in it, but again of a very dry, bitter, husk-like variety that gives an almost nutty impression. It’s almost like stale coffee. There is a little caramel, most likely from the bourbon, but it’s cut by the dry bitterness and flashes of green bell pepper.

Very slick feeling with some fizz to the carbonation.

Definitely one of my least-favorite variants. I don’t find the chocolate selected at all complementary. The base itself is vastly superior.

375 ml capped bottle

Pours jet black with dark brown colored head that fades. Very bold aroma and flavor. Pretty boozy, but the dark chocolate is the prominent flavor on top of the bourbon and roasty malts. very thick, slick mouthfeel.
Overall very tasty but I still think Cinnamon Chile and Coffee variants are still the top for me

Sampling a cellar temp 12.7 fl oz bottle poured into my snifter. 1 of 300 bottles made for 2020.
Bottle is courtesy of a trade with @rolltide8425. thank you!
the beer pours a dark black coffee color with a dense tan head of about .5 cm foaming up. This foam fades to nothing soon after the pour. The beer leaves no lattice on on the glass when swirled but does leave sticky legs that take time to slide back down into the beer.
The aroma is BOOOOOOZY! wow , no hiding the alcohol here. I get strong bourbon notes, some black peppery hits and fusol alcohol. Some raisin notes too and maybe vanilla. But I also get sweet milk chocolate notes, roasted malts, and dark bakers chocolate too. No hops anywhere, which isnt surprising. very robust nose on this beer.
First sip reveals a thick body with sticky texture and very gentle spacious almost non existent carbonation. Definitely a sipping kinda beer.
Flavor is rich and malty like the nose advertises. I get some sweet chocolate briefly up front and a hint of bakers chocolate. Some dark fruit of raisin hits too. Bourbon and booze take over and some warming heat starts even before I swallow and it carries down into my belly. Again , no hops here, and the beer is carried by its malts and ABV.
I enjoy this beer as a sipper and recommend to those that enjoy drinking a bottle over an hour or more. Excited to try the other two variants that I have in the cellar!
