2021 version on draft at the brewery
Black in color, thin tan head. Nice maple flavor without the sweetness. Walnut is in there too. Slick mouthfeel.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours jet black with a thin layer of brown head. Quickly fades, leaving a gorgeous smooth beer. The nose is full of maple and bourbon. Maybe it's just me, but the walnut seems to be pretty faint. More prominent are milk chocolate, vanilla, some nice dark fruit, and a nice malty note. Super smooth.
The taste is crazy! The maple takes front and center here. This, unlike many maple stouts, does it right. It's a smooth maple that plays nicely with the bourbon and roasted malts. It's not harsh and abrupt, for a lack of a better word. It's not like drinking maple syrup. The chocolate and bourbon are very much there, but again the walnut is minor. I can tell it's there, but I would probably not guess this was brewed with walnuts unless I was told so.
The 14.7% ABV is not detectable. It's amazing, but I don't get any alcohol note at all. Mouthfeel is thick and viscous but, again, not syrupy. Overall, this is fantastic stuff.

This wonderful stout was transported to me by my sister-in-law and niece from Pittsburgh and I drank it while we enjoyed a Merry Christmas opening gifts.
Poured from a bottle into a tall stemmed tulip glass. Rich dark brown color with excellent creamy light brown head and beautiful curtain lacing. Strong smell and taste of maple and walnut. Distinct bourbon barrel booziness and warmth. Silky feel. Perfect Merry Christmas beer!

Matte black with a thin, short-lived mocha head that leaves a modest, soupy crown, but no lacing.
Big vanilla, maple and chocolate in the nose. A little dark fruit behind. Some walnut rounds out the edges, but I’m not sure I would have picked it out without knowing it was there. Smells like bourbon maple pancakes.
The taste is much the same. Maple, vanilla and a hint of walnut all show on top of chocolate, plum and a hint of char in the robust RIS-style base. Plenty of alcohol and a little black walnut in the aftertaste make it less sweet than the nose suggests, although there’s definitely a pop of maple throughout.
Smooth, slick, medium-bodied feel with a nice burst of carbonation fizz.
A great variant that adds some fun layers while still really letting the base beer shine.
