Dark Mild brewed with a base of Marris Otter, plus a touch of crystal malt, pale chocolate, and midnight wheat, hopped ever so gently with Pilgrim and East Kent Goldings, and carbonated to a slightly lower level to mimic the idea of a traditional cask pull. Notes of mid level setting toast, crispy brownie corners, and date spread.

On draught at the brewery. Served in a plastic cup. It pours a cloudy, orange-cola color akin to iced tea with a modest, ecru-colored head and lacing. Its nose features sweet malt, nutty char, and a whiff of caramel. The taste is surprisingly robust for such a mild ale, and includes roasted malt, charred nuts, burnt coffee, bakers chocolate, and heavily toasted bread. As it warms there is added caramel sweetness that balances the overall bitterness. The mouth feel is thicker and creamier than I expected with an appropriate level of carbonation, and it is easily drinkable at 4.4% ABV. Overall, this is an impressive beer. For the style it offers a lot of flavor and is very enjoyable.

An excellent dark mild, light ABV but very flavorful.
Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Dark clear brown color with a fluffy beige head and nice lacing. Smell and taste of dark toast. Slight chocolate and caramel. Smooth and easy to drink. I goes well with food and it would no doubt be great with a full English breakfast.

Sent my direction by @JayORear as part of his ninja strike during NBS BF #13.
Pours a fitting medium-dark chestnut brown that, when held to the light, gives slightly ruddy edges. Good finger plus of head with decent retention and lacing.
Nose is nutty and more toast than roast. There's some dark grain bread in there and a faint thread of watery chocolate.
Flavour is mild, as to be expected, but not faint. A nice spicy bitterness plays the backend, while the lead in is a little more dry than I expected, and hits the middle of the tongue with that same dark grain toast.
Dry and bitter overall, it does a good job of bringing just enough presence at each of its stages, though in true American fashion, it may be a touch more bitter/hoppy than the traditional intention of the style, which does limit its sessionability a little bit.
Overall still quite enjoyable, and probably my favourite of the Free Will brews that Jay sent my direction. Thanks, man!!

16oz tallboy can courtesy of JayO'Rear.
Poured into a tallboy can glass, this was a dark, almost impenetrable brown, almost black. Good sized, creamy, beige colored head, with lots of lace.
Roasty, malty nose, reminding the workers at my olfactory of coffee and cocoa, in that order.
Mildly roasty malts up front, with a slight mineral-like zing. A bit more bitter tasting up front than some dark milds, but not at all in a way that detracts. Finishes surprisingly clean, almost like a schwarzbier.
Medium bodied, with a fairly clean mouthfeel, as noted above.
Dug this a lot. I seem to like dark Milds more than pale ones. This is a nice one, a little more bitter than others I've had, but still very sessionable stuff. Thanks, Jay!

Poured a medium brown with light khaki head and had mild aroma of malts and biscuit.
The taste was good, followed the aroma and built upon it. Chocolate entered into the picture s along with the malts and bread and ended up very refreshing and tasty.
The feel was appropriate for the style, very quaff able.
I’d be very happy to drink this regularly, thanks to Jay for sending it to me!

16 oz can
pours a dark brown in color, thick cream colored head. pretty good head retention. pleasant aroma of mild roast, cocoa, toasty bread crust. similar flavors, a touch sweet but finishes more balanced. medium bodied.
I had this on nitro pour at the brewery too. Cask would be the ideal serving format
