Brewed with a complex malt bill with of course plenty of oats, some caramel malts, chocolate malt, midnight wheat, and roasted barley. Hopped just a little bit with HBC 472 - which we’ve taken a liking to in beers of this nature. In a world of heavily adjuncted stouts, we wanted to create something that was still packed with a deep, complex character without adding anything beyond traditionally used ingredients. Notes of cacao, roast, caramel, and an almost fruity, woody like character as is unique to our hop choice here. Not too rich, nor too full bodied making it a nice companion to our host of Imperial Stout offerings this time of year.

There's a bitter, hoppy note that I'm not used to in stouts; green, spicy and herbal. It's pleasant though it kind of overpowers the roasty notes. There's some licorice and cinnamon on the nose as well. Roast shows up on the tongue with mildly bitter chocolate and fruity, light roast coffee. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but the oats add a certain smoothness. Drinks very easy for 6.2%. This is perfectly fine - good even- but ultimately nothing special.
