Dark tan impy stout head over dark black impy stout body. Head is very active with tiny exploding bubbles until it thins to a ring. No lacing. Smells nice. Lots of bourbon barrel character and deeply roasted grain. Quite a bit of vanilla too. I hope that's not overdone on the tongue. It's not. The base beer, barrel and all the "add junks" comes together pretty well here. Nothing dominates or pushes things out of balance. Also not as sweet as feared. It is a bit lip-smacking, but doesn't taste too cloying. Could be boozy barrel juice rounding things out in that regard. Slick and oily mouthfeel with a medium+ body, inching toward full. I was kinda wondering why you'd want to barrel age a sweet milk stout, but the results speak for themselves. I like this.
