Sampling a 2022 vintage bottle of this beer. 375 ml bottle that has been in my cellar for a little over a year since it was picked up at the brewery and sent to me.
The beer pours jet black into my glass, no light passes through. Very minimal beige head foams up and is only a thin edge layer almost immediately.
Aroma is some molasses, a little vanilla and dark chocolate and a lotta bourbon! Definitely bourbon scent but also fusol as it sort of burns my nose a little. Some booziness on the nose and absolutely no hop character.
First sip reveals a big sticky textured body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Beer coats my lips and palate on each sip. Very full and sticky beer.
Flavor is some rich chocolate notes and molasses, followed by sweeter bourbon note and then boozy black pepper bite and significant warming heat on the swallow. WOO! This is a hot beer, definitely a sipper. Yikes this is gonna take some time to finish!

Pours a tawny-hued black with a thin mocha head that quickly dissipates into a messy crown.
Big chocolate aroma with some pecan, hints of vanilla and cherry and some fusel alcohol. Reminiscent of old school BCBS.
Chocolate carries to the taste, but with a lot more cola and vanilla. There’s strong alcohol heat and some nut and wood in the finish. Maybe a hint of cardboard.
Mouthfeel straddles creamy and sticky. Full bodied with a little prickly carbonation.
This one’s a little rough around the edges, even for Ralphius. I generally like them hairy, but this is almost too much.

This beer makes me feel warm and wonderful. Comforting, toasty, rich.
Got this bottle delivered to my sister in law and picked it up during Christmas.
Pours a rich dark brown color with nice creamy brown head with good curtain lacing. Strong, powerful bourbon smell and taste with the always reliable Ralphius dRk chocolate background. Nut and coconut and cookie. This is a very nice beer!
