Matte black with a slight cherry hue. Dark mocha cap quickly fizzes away into a lasting crown.

The aroma has a mix of both creamy dark chocolate and bitter dark cocoa powder. There are flashes of nougat, wood, distant pecan and vanilla, and a hint of dark stone fruit.

Chocolate, vanilla and brown sugar sweetness, again with a hint of dark fruit, with some light tobacco, ash, nuttiness and moderate booziness for balance.

Very creamy feel for the series with some restrained prickly zippiness from the not-quite-absent carbonation.

Tons of depth and grown-up flavors. Nice balance between the sweet and savory in this.

Im sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. No date stamping, but the bottle is from the 2022 release of the Ralphius variants.
The beer pours a dark coffee black color with minimal frothy tan head foaming up. this foam fades to a thin edge layer soon after the pour and this remains in my glass throughout the sampling. Does leave some legs on my glass when I swirl the glass or take a sip, not really any lacing.
Aroma is big chocolate fudge and brownie notes mixing with rich bourbon and almost a bit of char. Hints of vanilla in there too, but the bourbon and fudge dominate. No hop character and the ABV is pretty well hidden as the bourbon isnt fusol or hot. Nose is exactly what I expected, and I love it!
The first sip reveals a medium to thicker body with smooth texture and a bit of stickyness on my palate. Carbonation is very fine and fairly gentle. It does get a little tingly when I swish the beer in my mouth.
Beer feels like I expected and is great for the style!
Flavor is fudge brownie and a bit of brown sugar, flows to a deep slightly sweet hit of bourbon. the bourbon lingers and here I get a little warmth on the swallow. This heat lingers a bit after each sip too. Booziness is mostly mild though and I dont get overwhelmed by the warmth at anypoint, nor does it overshadow the flavors.
No hint of any hops, and while the beer is sweet, mostly bourbony, it isnt like a candy or cloying and doesnt make this hard to drink.
Im biased a bit as Makers Mark is my favorite bourbon. But this beer does all the things I want in a bourbon barrel aged Imp Stout. I would really love to have another bottle.
