Pours black with a thin, mocha head that quickly settles into a modest, soap bubble crown.
Caramel, vanilla, red wine and brownie batter in the nose. Comes across almost as an English barleywine / imperial stout cuvée.
Much darker tasting, with strong alcohol, black licorice and tobacco, with the wine, caramel and chocolate behind.
Superb thick, chewy mouthfeel with tight carbonation.
Really excellent variant in the hairy, old-school Ralph school. Delicious.

This is lovely! Lots of roasty cocoa along with lesser amounts of grape juice and molasses. The wine barrels add a wonderful, lingering vinous note while the bourbon barrels barely register in the background. Great beer.

Pours black, with thin tan colored head. Fades to a thin ring around the glass that sticks. Aroma is toasty, cocoa, dark caramel, woody, vinous, almost smokey. Similar flavors in the taste, with a fairly dry finish. Quite complex. As with all variants, a full body and silky mouthfeel.
