Pours near black with a soupy mocha head that quickly settles into a bubbly, uneven crown that actually leaves some funky lacing.
It has a more subtle aroma than many from the series. I get a touch of sweetness, but actually more umami than anything. A real RIS vibe.
Mmmmm. The taste is what I hope for in a Ralph. A flash of maple and caramel floating on top a world of darkness: black licorice, umami, tobacco, Baker’s chocolate, charred oak. Not shy on the alcohol. Some lingering bitterness in the finish.
A sticky, viscous feel with soft, slow-building carbonation that barely cuts through.
On first whiff, I worried that this wouldn’t live up to the occasion, but all in all, it’s a phenomenal beer.

2024 release- 375 ml capped bottle
pours inky black, with tan colored head that fades after a bit. The maple is mostly in the aroma, the taste has a little burnt sugar mixed with the rich dark chocolate and mild bourbon flavors. like all variants, the body is full bodied and silky smooth.
