When I noticed this was a Tsingtao brew I didn't have too high expectations but I gave it a go. Pours a clear reddish orange with a little head. Smalls malty with some candied sugar. Didn't expect this at all from an Asian beer, it was rather enjoyable. Taste pretty malty with an interesting alcohol after taste. Not too bad.

Appearance – Deep yellow in color with a tinge of orange. The head was white and foaming but went down quickly.

Smell – The strong rice aroma was complimented by a small sweetness that was hard to pin down.

Taste – This had the classic Chinese Beer taste yet was stronger than other’s that I’ve had in the past. The straight rice was saturated with alcohol to the extent that it was reminiscent of a mild saki with a pinch of sugar added.

Mouthfeel – There was enough carbonation to this light-bodied beer to make things entertaining. This one was probably on the heavier side of light-bodied, yet not big enough to be considered medium.

Drinkability – I’d imagine you could get sick of this pretty quick, but for an afternoon refresher it went down pretty well.

Red Dragon Xtreme pours a light copper color with a minimal white head from a green twelve ounce bottle. Sweet, malty aroma is noticeable. Taste is very malty, toffee and caramel are present. This beer really surprised me, I was expecting a fizzy yellow lager, I don't think I've seen any other kind from China. This one isn't. Definitely a pleasant surprise, it's not mind blowing, but it isn't fizzy and yellow. Worth a try, if only to know that not all Asian beers have to be fizzy and yellow. Maybe more of a Marzen in style.

Pours a coppery orangish color with a thin lace that quickly dissapeared. Sweet malt, caramel and a slight bit of nuttiness make up the nose. I was really surprised by the aroma, I was expecting something pretty bland. I am not that big of a fan of the taste however. It is very malty but has an unpleasant aftertaste in the finish that is dry and somewhat cardboard like. Not horrible, but nothing I would pick up again. There is just something in that taste that does not make it very drinkable for me and I almost had to pour out some of it.
