Hand-delivered from Beijing to Moscow (thanks, Egon), the can is white with red and blue on the label. Almost everything on this domestic package is in Chinese, except the name and the brewery (listed as "Beijing Five Star Tsingtao Beer Co., Ltd.") I can't make out an ingredients list. The date on the bottom is 03/02/2005 - I'll hope that is a canning date, as I opened it on 4/29/05.
Pours a clear pale gold under a 1/2 finger white head that fades in no time, leaving a yellowish liquid that looks just a bit too much like urine. The nose is sweet and malty, with lots of corn tones. The mouth is very prickly and quite light. Pretty standard macro lager - very malty with sweet notes from the corn. No hops flavor whatsoever, but a metallic consistency if you hold the liquid in your mouth for a while. The finish is sweet and bready, while the aftertaste is reminiscent of dirty wet socks. I suppose this would be good when its really hot or at the ballpark. Otherwise, no thanks.
