On tap at the brewery; poured into a pint glass.
Appearance - dark, cloudy gold with a medium, bubbly white head that quickly recedes to a thin layer. Lacing is sticky and staggered.
Smell - primarily citrus, a little floral and grassy hops, as well.
Taste - fairly refreshing, but the grassy hop bitterness hurts this, as there is little balance.
Feel - a bit watery with a lack of balance. I enjoy the hop bitterness, but there is nothing there to compliment it.
Overall - a rather disappointing IPA that showed some promise after the first whiff.

 

 

 

 

 

 

on tap at the ale house north denver. adverstised misleadingly as a big bold american ipa. in truth, this is a very english pale ale in nature. poured redish copper with a one inch white head. smell is english malts and very little hops. flavor is rather bland compared to my expectations. a good english malt body for sure, but where are the hops? inaccurate to call this an ipa, especially an american ipa in style. i dont dislike this at all, and in fact it when very well with some steamed mussels. the body is medium and rather drinkable, the carbonation is subtle, and the finish is nice. overall though, this is just too conventional of a brew in not good enough proportions to turn me on, but id be keen to try other arvada beers.

On tap at the brewery and served in a pint glass the beer arrives crystal clear with a light amber golden color, a 1/2 finger white head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The nose is that of citrus and earthy hops with a gentle crystal malt base, though isn't all that prominent. The flavor starts off with a mild blend of citrus and earthy pine hop character that is met quickly with a mellow caramel malt flavor and thus is pretty well balanced. Medium bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and fairly easy to drink though there is a astringent metallic character as the beer warms. Overall, nothing outstanding but certainly not bad.

On tap at Alehouse at Amato's in Denver.

Clear and clean light copper pour. Semi-dense, semi-soapy head. Fluffy. Lacing is quite nice.

Citrus aroma of grapefruit and orange peel, but not nasal burning. A nice backbone of malt and some grassiness keep things somewhat balanced.

A well balanced IPA where the citrus starts to climb and is pulled down to earthiness. Some green pine and baked caramel do the trick. Nice feel to it. Easy drinking, good bite. A hint of metallic on the end. Some butteriness as the glass emptied.
