L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick texture. There was a large, tan-colored, foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Below average lacing.

S: A decent, but slightly underwhelming aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit, a booziness, and a sweet, sugary component.

T: Tasted of a lot of dark fruit (plums, raisins), light hops notes, roasted malt, chocolate, a boozy quality, and a light caramel presence. This isn't a bad flavor, but it's definitely a lot thinner, less complex and aggressive than most beers of the style.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a somewhat thin, watery finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is an OK beer, but there definitely better RIS's out there. Worth a try, though.

Pours out black with a thin, but long-lasting khaki head. Roasted malt is prevalent in the smell, but fruitiness from the yeast is strong, as well - plum, dried fig, etc. Flavor: boozy, lightly roasty, fruity (berries), sweet. Mouthfeel is pretty flat, not that full, and kind of slick. Not the best stout around.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #71 (December 2012):

Decent, a bit of a mish mash of flavors … some work and some don’t. Hits most of the bells and whistles for the style and retains it drinkability through the session. Nothing mind blowing or looking to destroy you palate, a pretty tame Imperial Stout though this is a good quality especially if you are looking for more subtle beers to do some pairing with.

STYLE: Imperial Stout
ABV: 8.2%
AVAILABILITY: Year-round

LOOK: Pitch black, light brown towering head

SMELL: Sweet, chocolate milkshake, faint black currants, estery, buttery

TASTE: Fullish body, slight roasty bite, dark chocolate, buttery, dried grass, very warming, fruity, mild hop bitterness, creamy, semi-sweet roasty finish

Found this at Worldwide Wines & Spirits in Southington, CT - they have an excellent selection of beers from around the world. I was intrigued, having been to Chile several times and never sampled any local beer, just their fabulous wines.

On the pour it had a creamy head, that had a slight fizz to it. Reminded me a bit of Guinness in appearance, but an even darker body below the head. Gave off a hint of sweetness in the smell. The head stayed thru most of drinking.

This is a great tasting Imperial Stout, with some malty, caramel sweetness tempering the 8.2 alcohol content. Also, the slight fizziness lessened the density of the stout, providing a nice mouthfeel.

Overall this is perhaps the best import I have had outside of Germany, Belgium & the Bristish Isles!
