Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served amber-red color with a tiny bit of fizzy white foam. The head fades rather rapidly, leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of a caramel and fruity smell with some apple and cherry. These smells are mixed with a little bit of a nutty and slightly roasted malt smell. Along with these smells comes some very night notes of a grassy smell as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a smooth bready taste mixed with a little bit of a caramel and light fruit taste of apple and pear. As the taste advances, more and more caramel comes to the tongue with a bit more of a roasty and nutty taste melding its way into the taste. These flavors mix nicely with the bready tastes and with a decent but not overpowering arrival of a grassy and earthy flavor that comes at the end, a rather easy going but rather flavorful irish red flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with it containing a carbonation level that is rather average to a little high. For the roasty and lightly hopped flavors of the brew and the moderatness of its abv., the feel is rather nice and makes for a rather crisp and flavorful feel overall.
Overall – A rather easy drinking and quite flavorful Irish red with a nice mix of roasted malt, light hop, nut, and sweetness. One to try if you have a chance.
