Howler from the source filled 2 days ago.
Pours a crystal clear straw golden yellow with a pilsner like quality to it. A pillowy head greets me from an aggressive pour, but slowly dies down as I sip this. Decent lacing.
Fresh cut pine needles with a touch of canteloupe to back it up on the nose. A bit of graham cracker and bread peak their head in as the beer sits.
Your palate is greeted with pine cone and citrus rind. Resinous flavors move slightly into the sweet with caramel and a touch of pumpernickel and rye round out the finish.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, drying on the palate and sticky on the lips.
A showcase of pine resin and slight tropical sweetness. I've always really liked what they do with this Alpha Experiment series and hope they keep it up. Once they begin canning, it would be an awesome rotating release when their canning schedule allows it.

Dry, fruity, carmel cream goodness. This IPA is stellar. Simcoe hops make one hellacious brew worthy of a little more live here.

If any hop variety has been specifically designed for the American IPA style, then Simcoe is it! Its deeply resinous bittering, its sharp citrus notes and its distinctive "earthy" taste give hop-heads reasons to clamor.
Its hazy copper translucence highlights the ale's unfiltered and unfettered boldness- a perfect display for all the hoppy goodness over a bed of short bread caramel and dry starchy taste. Citrus, earthy and with characteristic pine shavings, the aromas and early taste is complex yet calm.
With just enough of a dry caramel taste to support the hops, the malts fade fast and leave the bulk of the middle palate to celebrate hop dominance. White grapefruit, tropical passionfruit, the peels of under-ripened orange then couple with the taste of fresh-cut grass, chive, light garlic and faint hints of cannabis. With this array of flavors swirling on the forefront of taste, its smoldering bitterness projects to tackle the finish.
Grassy in its bitterness, eventually the deep flavors reveal pine resins, funky botanical herb, and the dankness of fresh chlorophyll decorate the bitterness that tramples onward with the ale's sweetness, creaminess and esters left far behind.
