As the warm weather comes to a close, the Country Boys say "never say die" to summer with a crisp and cleanly soured ale with an overlay of strawberry for extra charm, comfort and that warm feeling that only summer can give.
Peachy golden upon the pour, the cloudy beer expels an initial creamy froth with penetrating spritzy acidity that relegates the beer somewhat still quickly after. With a decidedly fruity scent, the strawberry finesse rests upon a sour and citrusy base with apple, lemon and lime. Its taste is faintly sweet to start, casting hints of doughy sweetness through fresh pilsner grain and whole wheat bread.
The malts and sweetness dissolves quickly over the tongue and leaves the full brunt of taste to rest squarely upon the sourness, fruitiness and supportive earth. While strawberry character remains in charge, there's suggestions of raspberry, sour cherry, green apple, dry white wine and citrusy sourness that smack the tastebuds around with their sheer lactic sourness. With little in the way of coriander perfume, the finish is playfully salty yet careful not to interfere with the delicate aura of strawberry.
Light in body, the beer's relative stillness renders is needing greater life, personality and sprite. But the acidity enlivens the taste regardless and closes the session clean, crisp and greatly refreshing. With an undercurrent of wheat dough and sour fruit, the taste lingers slightly in aftertaste.
