With a Belgian attitude but with the pieces and parts from France, the brewery of Country Boy borrows their brewing skills from the low country of Belgium and France for a taste that's familiarly farmhouse, but also comfortably smooth and rich.
All French Saison pours a deep golden color with tethers of burnt orange slicing through. As a quick head builds and then folds, a wonderful bouquet of orchard fruit, light citrus, light spice and a kiss of buttered toast rounds onto the nose. Lightly savory and sweet, a touch of butterscotch rolls along with the light caramelization and floral honey flavors that both lager and aromatic malts provide.
Less rich and full on the middle palate, the zesty beer carries a mild champagne bubbly texture to bring out the fruit and spice. Apple, lemon, orange and pear all have a juicy taste with a toasted poundcake support. Peppery, grassy and of dry hay, the bitter and spicy balance is even keel as they offset the fleeting sweetness and fruit forward taste surprisingly well.
Medium bodied but trending lighter, the deeper the taste goes into finish, the beer's toasted savory flavors remain. Suggestions of caramel, toast and honey remain while the spicy straw flavored hops. Vinous spice gives the aftertaste a hint of white wine and light fruit.
