Funk, fauna and fortitude unite in Country Boy's latest "Living Proof" wild ale series, boasting a depth of dark fruit flavors, leading with sherry, oak and bourbon because, ...well- Kentucky.
Mouth watering sour scents spill onto the senses with a strong suggestion of fortified red wine, grappa, cider, sherry, dark fruit and a savory hint of balsamic. Buried within its rusty reds and browns lie a simple candied sweetness that treads on cola, pecan and toast territories.
The sourness develops quickly as the sweetness dries out and the tangy fruit and wine flavors gain prominence. Red grape, cranberry, red apple, green apple, black cherry, under ripened red berries and currants wrap around a toasty center of peppercorn, nuttiness and oak spices. A piquant balance rapidly turns sour when trailing with the date, fig and prune taste of sherry and also the charred peppery caramels of bourbon.
Medium bodied sour a sour ale, the beer's complex collection of tastes takes quite a journey over the tastebuds before landing at a warm, spicy and tangy finish through its sherry, bourbon and oak treatment. A quick aftertaste of pepper and sherry provide lasting impressions through a remarkably refreshing, dry and toasty taste.
