Chocked full of Kentucky blackberries and a can-do sour attitude, the Country Boys are at their Living Proof program again.
Blackberry Wild's juicy dark berry scent comes with the succulent scent of fresh pressed puree along with the sharp citrus sour twang, a cidery notion and a backdrop of wine. Its rich mahogany and mauve looks nearly purple and cast with a faint haze. As the ale crowns with a light and slight pinkish froth, its taste comes with the fruitiness of hard candy and a hint of fruit cobbler and pastry.
As the sweetness retreats, the fruit forward taste takes on tart and robust character while a bold taste of red wine takes hold. Red grape, blackberry, raspberry, plum and blackcurrant all play a role either in primary or supporting roles. Its sourness is clean and acidic, shedding only the faint brine and must of saltwater taffy and weathered attic woods. Soft bitterness comes across like the skins of berry and fuses with the lime, crabapple and grape sourness well.
Medium light and trending dry as the finish transpires, the beer proves to be just as refreshing and thirst quenching as it is juicy and satisfactory to the delight of the tastebuds. A short aftertaste of plum wine, pastry, burlap and cider have the next sip calling quickly.
