Much more in keeping with the northern German variety of altbier rather than the more lager-like taste that's popularized in and around Dusseldorf, the Country Boys bring a caramelized, toasty taste with a highly drinkable and refreshing crispness that's sure to suit the fall season quite well.

Country Boy Alt Bier pours with a brownish amber color and cast in a slight haze, the hybrid-style beer crowns with an short and ecru froth. Nutty and toasty aromas abound in a medium intensity and the light suggestion of caramel sweetness underneath. Toasty, grainy and granola-like a pep of honey and caramel kiss the tongue briefly on the front of the tongue.

A turn to dryness comes quick as the sweetness that pushed caramel and honey back off rapidly and allow for the toasty, nutty and husken flavors of the malt to garner the middle palate. Tepidly of rye and cola, the beer soon trends like a drier amber ale, but made with German pieces, parts and technique. A biscuity starchiness rounds the finish as the spicy hops of Germany bring a pleasant tea, herb and grassy bitterness for a shy balance.

Medium bodied and trending dry, a light peppery taste comes late in finish while the beer's malt flavor and feel tighten into a crisp and snappy closure. Its a strong autumn flavor without having to drag out pumpkin spice.
