Taster at brewery. Dark brown , ring of beige head. Roasty aroma, vanilla. Taste comes in sweet, vanilla, brown sugar. Creamy, silky smooth. Latent heat. Absolutely delicious.

Beer itself pours dark black. The thick head looks like a chocolate milkshake. Nose is vanilla and bourbon. Taste is similar to espresso with hints of vanilla and bourbon. Nice bitterness on front and backend, though it fades. Very well done

Adding another barrel to their arsenal, Country Boy Brewing amps up their popular Shotgun Wedding to over ten percent in alcohol content and stows it away in bourbon barrels for a unique and imperialized spin on their classic vanilla Brown Ale.

Double Barrel Shotgun Wedding shows off its depth of darkness with a deep coffee brown pour with a swirling sepia stained creme. With the ale drifting about the nose, the robust perfume is soft with caramel, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak, nuttiness and coffee, the scent is a simple but sultry upstart. Bold caramel flavors merge the barrel to the beer with the soothing vanilla providing an early palate of cream candy with a whisky kick.

With the middle palate comes full saturation of the tastebuds with sweet malt flavors. Additional flavors of chocolate, coffee, candied nuttiness and alcohol spice provides complexity and boldness to balance the lingering sweetness with a slow and broad woodsy bitterness growing on the later portions of taste.

Full bodied, sweet and smooth, the ale is lightly cloying as it promotes a slower session of sips and savor more than refreshment or ease on the palate. A linger of sweet bourbon and hints of honey decorate the aftertaste for a double blast to the senses.
