Fulcan A get a temporary facelift with the finishing additions of hops to be exclusivley of the Citra variety for even more zesty citrus flavor than ever.

Rusty amber in color, the ale is capped with a dense and creamy off-white head that stubbornly lasts the session while leaving an abundance of lace behind. The glowing haze gives the beer the impression of visual weight; as does the low-lying carbonation.

Where the multiple hop additions in the original recipe leaves the beer resiny, complex, and perhaps a bit muddled, here the dedicated focus to the citra hops allows the beer to exhibit juicier, more vivid, and mouthwatering character of ruby red grapefruit juice, pineapple, mangos, and tangerines. It's the perfect complement to the malty rich aroma of caramel and bread.

Flavors follow suit and resoundingly on que- citrus, citrus, and more citrus allow for the earthen fruit acidity to play out with the same dedication to grapefruit, tangerine, and tropical fruit juices that keep me comming back to the glass far sooner than I should. Backed with the firm maltiness of light caramel, toffee, starch, and fresh baking bread- this beer needed the fresh taste of citrus fruit to enliven and open it up a bit.

Medium bodied, largely because of the lower rate of carbonation than is normal for American ales, the beer still carries more of an English-like weight. Early creaminess is accompanied by the pleasant acidity of hops and gives the impression of lightness to balance the mouth feel. Finishing semi-dry, the beer retains a touch of malt even through the finish and into its citrusy aftertaste.

Citra Fulcan A starts to resemble the flavors and bitterness that's so masterfully displayed in Three Floyds Zombie Dust, but the beer's restrained dedication to the citra hop eventually limits its deliciousness.

On tap at the brewery, this is fulcan a but amped up by the citra. The nose and taste are the real difference between this and the regular fulcan a. The nose is very zombie dust esque. The citra come through and dominates the taste almost entirely but the malt still exists. If you can try some citra Fulcan A.
