Pours hazy tangerine into a tulip glass from a 330ml bottle. What manifests is one of the greatest heads on a DIPA I've ever seen: thick, creamy, offwhite, four fingers high with close small bubbles like a stout. Lacing is chunky and abundant on the glass after it settles down, and it never really does - leaving a constant two finger lingering head.
Even from a couple of feet away I can get an aroma on this beer; thick tropical ripe stonefruit - mango, passionfruit, lychee - heady pine, and many hops. It smells wonderfully fruity, fresh, and heady all at once. You can really get a taste of the ripeness of this IPA, but it isn't overpowering or cloying. There must be a bitterness in there somewhere because you can't detect any from the aroma; I foresee a well balanced beer.
I had to take a moment to appreciate this ale after the first sip purely because of the sheer momentous balance that it offers. Holy f***. It's rammed with ripe stonefruit, wonderfully foresty pine resin, aromatic floral hops, and a - dare I say - almost perfect complementing bitterness. There is no dominance in this DIPA, it gives you everything in spades without going overboard on anything; I can detect each flavour equally at all stages of the sip which I've rarely comes across before. There's usually a transition from the fruit to the malt to the hops, but there isn't much of a malt presence at all, and if there is it's very well incorporated.
7.0%? Where? I feel like I'm drinking a 5.5% at most; that alcohol is well buried in the all the flavours, and there really isn't much of a drying effect to go off. It's medium boded, silky smooth, heavy, with good levels of carbonation which complement the beer.
I'm truly surprised at how underrated this ale is, it's gorgeous. This beer is a consistant high-scorer amongst other beer reviewers, and I now know why. There are stronger, more flavourful beers out there, but with this you really do ask yourself: do I want more? For me balance is everything in an ale, and Salopian have granted that in this stellar beer.

Considering the ABV, this was easy to drink but perhaps lacking in flavours. Considering we're heading into double IPA territory, this was lacking in flavour. How're, a pleasant drink
