Reviewed 9 days after canning. It pours a dark cola brown color with a thin, dark-ecru colored head that dissipated rapidly, and a thin coating of lacing. The smell is roasty with notes of freshly-brewed coffee, milk chocolate, and nuts. There's also whiffs of cinnamon and nutmeg but not much pumpkin. The taste is similar: it opens with burnt coffee and a hint of char, then segues into chocolate with subtle cinnamon and nutmeg. Again, I'm not tasting any pumpkin. In fact, if I did a blind tasting I would say this is a low ABV coffee porter. It has moderate carbonation and the 5.6% ABV poses no obstacle to drinking several. Overall, I'm perplexed. While this is a decent roasty, coffee-forward Amber Ale, I've never had a "Pumpkin Ale" with less pumpkin taste.
