Appearance - Pours deep ruby mahogany color with a nice tan head that settles to a thick ring. Few dots of lacing.
Aroma - Dark fruit, caramel and toffee, light sweet brown sugar, nice barrel notes with a kiss of bourbon.
Taste - Taste is candied brown sugar, bourbon but mild, toffee, caramel, roasted malts. Mild barrel.
Feel - Medium bodied carbonation is spot on, very little heat other than a touch on the end. Slightly slick at the beginning.
Overall - A really well done scotch ale flavors are really well balanced, super easy drinking and smooth the alcohol is no where to be found.

8 ounce can, no date observed anywhere.
Pours a deep, dark brown mahogany with rusty red highlights. Minimal khaki head that leaves rather quickly, but has a remaining ring around the interior. Spotty lacing.
Nose of caramel, toffee, butterscotch (not an off flavor here). A lot of barrel in the nose.
Caramel, toffee, sweet malts, nuttiness, oak barrel, hints of vanilla and smooth bourbon. No hint of booze or heat. Slightly sticky with some lingering sweetness.
Overall, first off I enjoy the format. This beer is tasty with a nice barrel/bourbon complement.

Had this beer on tap in 2016 and loved it, tried the 2017 version and was underwhelmed. Pretty bland, basic BA scotch ale.
