Liverpool Organic Brewery "William Roscoe"
cask via handpump @ the Cavern Pub, Liverpool, UK
Notes: Crystal clear golden body beneath a fluffy bright white head of foam. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma displays some apple, light golden caramel and soft grain, and mild floral and leafy hops. Light-medium in body and smooth with a gently crisp carbonation. The flavor remains very much the same with a simple, straightforward grainy malt and earthy, leafy, and floral hops (I'm guessing Fuggles as it has that earthy edge). A median bitterness balances it, and it leaves the way it came in, present but without a lot of fuss. Overall not bad, and certainly not hard to drink, but uninspiring. Of their main beers (pale ale, Best Bitter, 24K Gold are the others) I find it the least interesting, but it is named after a historian, right, so how exciting could it possibly be?
