V-Moonlight is located in downtown Salida near the consignment stores and art galleries. The space inside is smaller than many restaurants and strives for that mountain hippy vibe but is typically filled with Texan tourists who are far from mountain hippies (no offense, Texans). A nice patio sits out front with restaurant tables and a lounge-y seating area around a fire pit. Out front is the place to be. Pop punk from my high-school and college days was playing on the radio when I visited for lunch, which I appreciate.

Q-My notes say the cream ale I ordered at lunch was "serviceable," which is not exactly high praise. The other beer I tried, a wheat, was also just fair. Maybe I ordered wrong, but I don't think beer is the priority at Moonlight.

Ser-Our servers were friendly and attentive. My beer arrived in a shaker pint, which is not a huge issue, except that it had no head and the glass was covered with spilled beer.

Sel-Moonlight had only five taps when I visited, along with a selection of a dozen cans or bottles that included macro beers. The in-house beers on tap were all traditional brewpub styles, e.g., cream ale, wheat, and IPA.

F-The pizza was pretty decent and they had a number of non-traditional pies. I don't think I'd drive to Salida to eat here, but I enjoyed my meal.

O-As much as I like the patio and the pizza here, the beer is not a highlight.

what a cool little spot, right in downtown salida. one of my favorite stops on a recent brewery jaunt around our fair state. they have apparently been making some banging pizzas for awhile now, and only recently have started making beer, but we didnt eat, so its all hearsay there. the place has gotten so popular that they are needing to expand the building. good for them, a real nice bunch of people involved here. they have a tiny bar, maybe five seats at it, but a bigger patio and dining room with more in the works. probably eight or so beers on tap, with the coffee brown ale being by far my favorite. really deep coffee flavors and a real drinkable brown ale base, not too complicated, but done absolutely correctly. i liked the irish red too, but the white ipa was a bit of a mess. they also apparently make sodas there, which seemed popular with the other patrons. the girl at the bar was warm and friendly, and the mellow vibe here is infectious. seems like they rotate the beers up pretty well too, which is cool to see. i really liked it here, great vibe on a sunny spring morning. looking forward to my next trip back down here, dying to try their pizza too...

This is a great little corner place that's always busy. A mix of inside and outside seating. The staff is a fun group of hippy types.

Brews and pizza (the perfect combination) are outstanding!

Be sure to fill up your growler before you leave.

My personal favorite is the Moonlight Cream Ale!
