Bottle from Total Wine and More Houston Galleria Area
Dark amber/copper in color with a thin tan head that slowly dissipates. Bready toasty sweet maltiness with bits of alcohol and nuttiness. Not Bad.

Pours an effervescent chestnut with one finger of tan head. Some head retention & lacing
S: Peanut butter & toastyness
T: Peanuts, dryness, toastyness & a little peatyness up front. A little brown sugar, leafy hops & dryness as this warms, some maple & toffee as well. Finishes dry with toffee and not much else, some leafy & woody hop bitterness
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation
Opened up more as this warmed, not bad but the featured ingredients don't really work with this style for me

Interesting, and pretty drinkable. Tho scotch ales are not my most preferred style, a few recent examples have been pretty good. This is one of those.
Pecans and peanut butter is quite what this tastes like. No over the top, unnecessarily poignant-sounding adjectives needed. No false advertising either.

A: Brown with a thin head
S: Peanut butter, caramel, vanilla, light hoppiness, nutty
T: Caramel, nutty, light vanilla, light bitterness, dark fruit
O: Too much going on. A scotch base without adjuncts could be better

A: Pours a ruby brown color. Minimal foam forms and little lace is left behind.
S: I can tell this is really sweet from the nose. Almost sugary, and pretty much cloying in that regard. Maybe light nuttiness, but over barring sweetness is the game here.
T: Like the nose this is sugary sweet and cloying in every way. Caramel is up front, and a bit of nutty flavors which become more slick and oily than actual peanuts (or whatever is used here). Blah.
M/O: A full body with low to moderate carbonation. Creamy, but with a slick and oily feel. Not hard to sip on a sample, but anything more is a chore. Not something I am coming back to anytime soon.
For the most part, nondescript and cloying sweetness. Peanut Butter, peanuts, or what ever else is added have little to do with the final product here. Though, honestly, I think this is kind of a no win situation. It will either be cloying sweet, slick and oily, or just odd and all over the place. Not sure what would be better? Regardless, not impressed with the final product.
