It wasn’t enough for us to just brew our first-ever tripel, we had to add another first to the mix by combining it with heaps of fresh pineapple. The result is a pineapple oasis you’ve been looking for in the heat of an unrelenting Houston summer.

Expect fresh pineapple notes upfront, a rounded malt flavor with spicy and floral components and a pleasantly dry finish. The tripel style is deceivingly smooth - this patio sipper packs a strong punch.

$ 22.74 (Including tax)/Bomber ($ 1.08/oz). Purchased 9/23/19 at Spec’s, DeZavala, San Antonio, TX. Reviewed 5/16/20.
“2019” on banner on front label. On shelf at store. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 50 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), clear.
Body – Pale gold (SRM 4), clear. When held to direct light, same, effervescence.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.5 cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, dense with rocks, average retention, diminishing to a four to five mm irregular crown fed by effervescence and a rocky thick partial cap.
Lacing – Good. Tiny to small bubble torn curtain lacing.
Aroma – 3. Very weak phenolics, no malt, no hops, no yeast, NO PINEAPPLE!
Flavor – 3. No pineapple, no malt, no hops, no yeast. Very weak phenolics. Begins slightly sweet with a weak chemical taste. No alcohol (8.8 % ABV as marked on the label) taste or aroma. No diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, almost syrupy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3. Neither taste nor aroma of pineapple and palate is too thick for a Belgian tripel. One and done unless I find it on tap, then I’ll try a taste and go from there. Label is basic and give little information other than ABV.
