On tap at Hay Merchant. Made with rice, Centennial hops, and aged on Live Oak wood chips. Another breweries version of a Rice University Anniversary beer. Man, lots of brewers from Rice :)
A: Pours a dark reddish/orange color. A minimal bubbly white head forms and recedes in a second. Almost not lace is left behind.
S: Subtle up front. Bitter hops eventually come out. Citrus, grapefruit, light resin. Light wood aromas and caramelized sugars.
T: Follows the nose. The hops are subtle at first, but continue to build to a citrus and grapefruit bitterness that lingers throughout. Light resinous pine, light wood. Finishes with a caramel malt sweetness.
M/D: A medium body and good carbonation. A little thin and watery though. Very easy to drink. I could put a few away without a thought.
Probably my favorite from Buffalo Bayou so far. Nice hop and malt balance with the added dimension of of the wood. Still not my among my favorite offering from a Houston brewery. Though I did enjoy this much more than previous offerings.
