Barrel Aged Wee Heavy

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark brown with ruby red notes and a thin light khaki head that dissipates to patches with a thick ring around the glass. Rich aroma of caramel malt, fresh and dried plums, raisins and dates with a slight wood component. Flavor is dark, biscuity malt, fresh plums, raisins, a little whiskey, fig and date, then settling in to a very nice, lightly peaty and earthy finish with residual whiskey. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Wow, this is a nice wee heavy. Good complex malt and dark fruit throughout and an interesting build up of the background peat until it really becomes a welcome flavor in the finish, which also reveals more of the barrel flavor. Nicely done and one of the better wee heavies I've ever had, I'm happy to have found this.
