Dark mahogany color, with the red edges showing in the snifter. Really sweet, though seems to be typical of the style. Some hoppy bitterness; IBUs rated at 36. Big flavor of caramel with a scratch of burnt sugar. Massive roasted malt taste with a little coffee in the back of the throat.
This is a nice alternative to the scorched and over the top Imperial Stouts. It's easy to sip and the sweetness is balanced by the dark flavors. From the 500 ml bottle purchased at the James Street tasting room.
