Color is a perfectly lovely crystal-clear golden with just a pinkish blush. Modest foam in the tall Timmermans goblet. Light and crisp, but the main event is the frizzy, sparkling mouthfeel. They've done a great job in creating the "Brut" Champagne sensation. Some light aroma of berries.
The flavor is exactly like a white zinfandel spritzer, though more delicate. The fruit flavors are quite excellent, with just a nice touch of sweetness and malt that rises above the usual dry Brut finish. No hops, though! Overall, it's a delicious, crisp beer that's kind of like a very delicate cider.
So it's a puzzle-- it's not any kind of IPA, but if the emphasis is on the Brut characteristics, it's the only choice. But really, it's a fizzy and fruity concoction that is an improvement over those flavored pale wheat things. Another score for Kulshan. From the 32 oz growler filled at their James St. tasting room.
