The first sip is inviting, and you get the impression of an Export Stout with the sweet malt and strong taste. Then you realize it's remarkably bitter for an Irish Stout. It's like they burnt the malt black and then dosed it up with aspirin and herbs. Also surprisingly sweet and malty, with a sturdy body, rather than the the usual thin and dry dark stuff.
Pours a dark brown with modest foam in the Brigand chalice. I think they just totally overdosed on hops with this brew, whatever they are. Sorry, good for a few sips, so promising, but so undrinkable. From the 12 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station. "Best by 06/30/22" on the bottom.

12oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with a half-inch of brown head that moderate retention and almost no lacing.
The aroma was dominated by roast. A slight hint of chocolate in the background.
Identical on the tongue; no hop presence.
The body was very light for the style, bordering on watery, smooth, and had a semi-dry finish.
Drinkability was OK, but with such a one-trick brew, it became a bit of a chore.
Overall, a not quite average take on the style. Maybe have one on St. Paddy's Day? Or not.
