A style born in Southern Germany, Helles is an elegant and refreshingly simple beer style. Soft and smooth with low bitterness, this beer is predicated around German malts that impart full bready notes and slight lingering sweetness. Noble german hops provide a bit of floral and herbal accents, balancing out the sweet malt notes to create a highly drinkable beer that was designed to be consumed by the liter. Prost!

Lightly hopped Helles with a golden, hazy hue. Noticeably citric aroma. Lightly carbonated with strong earthy notes. One of the better German style Helles we’ve found recently. Ideal for a summer day.

BB date of 8/24. Pour uses a tall pilsner glass. Color is medium straw, head is light and fades to a skim coat. Light malt aroma. Taste is a clean malt with light hops but lacks the subtlety and depth found in others. Still, a nice beer to have on a warm summer's day sitting on a shady patio.

12oz can (no date) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a clean, clear medium gold color with 1/4 inch of white head that quickly dissipated, and left no lacing.

The scent was fairly typical for the style; earthy, bready grains, and light floral hops.

Same on the tongue, with the addition of a slight touch of hop bitterness on the finish.

The body was light and smooth, with a semi-dry finish.

Drinkability was good, you could easily crush a few of these at a cookout.

overall, a solid take on the style. Worth a shot if you see it.
