Transporter is a gateway beer; light, smooth and endlessly drinkable. With magnificent balance, hints of chocolate accompany secondary flavors of fresh coffee, biscuit maltiness and bread crust. A silky medium body gives way to earthy hop flavors creating a perfect finish made for repeating.

Transporter brown porter by Kulshan, poured from pint glass bottle.
L: Stout brown tan head about an inch. SRM ~40. Bubbly and doesn't appear viscous at 5.1%abv. Shining the light right, I see a touch of amber.
S: Chocolate covered strawberries followed by a roasted light coffee. Beginning and ending with sweetness, strawberry to cherry, with a roasted malt backbone throughout.
T: Woah. Unexpected heavy biscuit taste initially. Very dark malt only then followed by the chocolate and less fruit than was present on the nose, More of a flavor blast than development.
F: Medium body and a hoppier finish for 28ibu. Heavily carbonated but smooth.
The nose on this brew was divine, it rocketed my hopes up, but unfortunately although it was very pleasing to the palate, it stands in stark contrast to the nose so the taste is jarring. Baked biscuit is dominant and only slightly did I pick up the strawberry or chocolate later. The carbonation was a little aggressive, but not undoing. Transporter is a solid porter choice and I would drink again.

500mL tall bottle of "brown porter" served in a stemless wine glass. Very dark brown, too dark for light to escape, with little head formation. Really nice aroma of toasty malts, unsweetened cocoa, and even fresh coffee beans. Body is appropriately light, with really fine carbonation. Flavor is potent and grain-forward, with loads of highly kilned malts bringing out a much stronger coffee flavor. Finish is clean and slightly dry. Roasted barley is the star here, but the style here is all English porter. The brewery's website calls it "English Brown Porter" and it is an outstanding example of the style.

Pours a lovely red-hued mahogany color with two-and-a-half fingers of tan foam head. Thick lacing.
Wonderful aroma of rich roasted malts, dry and yeasty, with hints of chocolate, coffee and a much lighter hint of red wine twang.
The taste adds a little creaminess to join the malt. It’s much less yeasty and dry than the nose suggested. Light coffee impressions from the malt create a little bitterness that linger in the aftertaste.
Very creamy, medium-bodied feel with modest carbonation. Very easy drinking.
An exceptional brown ale. Easy to put back, but loaded with malt depth to ponder over if you’re so inclined.

Pours a dark brown with a golden amber edge. The first pour from the jug is quite sudsy with a handsome beige head. Less carbonated in the mouth than the average brew.
There is a slight sourish edge from the charred grains, perhaps more noticeable since this is less sweet than a lot of Porters. Some toasted nut flavors to go with the dark roast malt. There is just a whiff of hop flavor.
Overall a smooth and simple dark brew with a grainy, tart edge and a bitterish aftertaste. Not a notable beer but certainly drinkable. From the 32 oz growlerette purchased at the Bellingham Food Co-op.
