Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy orange amber, nearly opaque, with a one finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of mildly caramel and pale malt, citrus and dank hops, lemon, orange and grapefruit pith, spicy. Flavor is pale malt, citrus hops, orange and grapefruit, hints of tropical fruit, citrus rind. Finishes with dank citrus rind bitterness. Medium bodied with light to medium creaminess. Well, this is a bit of an odd duck. It looks like a classic NE hazy IPA, the aroma is closer to a citrus based West Coast IPA and the flavor is a hybrid, with lots of the spicy, unfiltered hop flavor that hazies often have. The hops are clearly citrus oriented, rather than tropical, but the finish has lots of hop powder character like a hazy. Since it's nicely bitter throughout, I like it OK, but it's not really what I would characterize as a West Coast IPA as the can says. That's not too surprising because Three Magnets is deep in the hazy IPA world. Interesting collaboration, if a little ambiguous.
