Slghtly hazed very dark orangey amber brew. Dank herbal smell. Thick mouthfeel with an acidic edge. Sweet malt and a bitter orange marmalade taste. Then some peach and a grapefruit peel finish. Aftertaste is quite woody and bitter. This is woolly and rough but kind of interesting. It just doesn't want to fade from the taste buds. Pairs well with hot pastrami and shots of Yukon Jack. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Whidbey Beer Works in Oak Harbor.

I did a double take when I first tasted this brew. Incredibly smooth with the aftertaste that brings you back for more. Excellent beer!

I've had this beer before and it was better. I learned that this batch was not brewed by the original brewer. Ok, so the nose is not much, some orange peel and biscuits.
Taste is similar but with bitterness without flavor.
Mouthfeel has decent carbonation but thin for the style.
Ok so when I had this year ago it was hippy and delicious. I'm not sure what happened with recipe but the batch they have now is not good. Too bad, I like having a brewery in Puyallup.

Lahar is not that great. I wish success for Puyallup River Brewing, as it's the first true brewery i n the area (not counting brewpubs) but there's a lot of work to be done. Lahar has a very thin mouthfeel, has a terrible hop profile, and only decent head retention. Look elsewhere, for now at least.

A: Poured a deep, burnt orangish color which leaves a nice white cap which resedes leaving some spotty whote bubbles and lacing

S: Big orange zest and graprefruit rind on the nose. A healthy does of caramel with a perception of some toasted bread

T: Taste provides an initial citrus one - two punch with orange peel and grapefruit which provides a nice smack of flavor, hop bitterness balanced with a booze sting, IBUs and caramel backing. Toasted bread can also be noted but faint. The taste is really all about the citrus and underlying pine needles. The finish is sharp, a little clingy, some moderate bitterness.

M: Medium body, a tad lower on carbonation perhaps but hops really weigh in on the palate providing a citrus blanket and sweet caramel layers.

O: Skip the bottles, go for draft. I had one draft and this growler is treating me right tonight.
