Black and nearly opaque in color, with a slightly weak head. Smell is basically just roasted malts. The flavor was slightly chocolate, but mainly just a general roastedness, and little hops in the finish. I wish I could say more than just roasted, but thats really the only flavor that stood out. It isn't even that the beer was not complex, because the roasted grain flavor had some reasonable depth, but that was about it. The mouthfeel was a bit heavy, but had the distinct lager charecter of a black lager. I would not say this is my favorite example of this style (which I am a big fan of), but I was tastey, and I would probaby fall back on this if a future sampling of something new dissapoints me.
