(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer pours an opaque black tar body with a creamy dark tan head. No carbonation or light is visible through this body.
S- This beer has a strong smell of graham crackers and toasted malts. A hint of dark roasted malt is faint in the background.
T- The flavor starts with a soft graham cracker flavor blended with a strong earthy coffee flavor. Black malt and darker roasted grains are balanced with some caramel notes too. This beer has a very faint hop bitterness that is overshadowed by a slight sweetness in the finish.
M- This beer has a medium mouth feel with a slight alcohol warmth and some astringency to the finish. The mouthfeel also has a slipperiness to it but it is subtle.
D- This beer started off a nice complex stout but as it warmed the coffee became the main flavor and really dominated the other flavors. It would have been nice to see some hops help to balance out the other flavors. The coffee flavor was rich deep and had more of a fresh brewed coffee instead of the more typical day-old coffee ground flavor. Interesting beer that could use some tuning up.
