This beer was served to me in a 10 ounce snifter. The color was a deep jet black with little to no head. It smelled dark and malty with an immediately recognizable black cherry scent.
On the first sip I was surprised that it was wasn't a bit thicker. This wasn't bad, but I had expected a more of a viscous texture due to the deep black color and my previous experiences with imperial stouts. Instead, as the other reviewer mentioned, it was more like a dark belgian in texture (but not in taste). The mouthfeel was in the medium range, but the expectation of a stout makes it seem lighter at first. The taste was awesome. Deep and full with black cherry up front and in the aftertaste. The cherry taste is there, but muted enough not to overtake the maltyness. Interesting slight coffee flavor buried underneath. Overall i would say this beer does a really great job of including the cherry flavor without the cherry overtaking the entire taste.
The drinkability of this beer is amazing. It is still an imperial stout, so it's definitely a sipper, but i could sip on this beer for a long time without getting tired of it. It was wonderfully complex. i had no idea it was 11%abv until I saw it here. i would have guess somewhere around 8%-9%. It was a little pricey at 8 bucks for a 10 ounce pour, but since i don't get out to aurora very often i would definitely order this one again if they have it on my next visit.

(Served in a snifter)
A- This beer has a jet black body with a thick meniscus of tan foam that last and last. There is no sigh of carbonation.
S- This beer has a black malt smell with an earthy note to the big sour cherry that gets stronger as it warms. In the finish there is a slight tart earthy note that might be from oatmeal.
T- There is a bright tart cherry note that is big and juicy with a soft chalky earthy chocolate note. There are notes of black malt and faint dark coffee roasted malt. There is a slight tartness in the finish.
M- This beer has a medium-light mouthfeel with a slight silky finish to the texture.
D- This beer is made with Quaker oats and Montmorency cherry extract. It reminds me more of a Belgian Dark Ale than a stout but it is pretty tasty.
