180ml taster at the Clarens Beer Festival.
Served chilled in the festival tasting tulip.
5,4 % Abv.
The hop bill consists of Galena, Centennial, Citra and the beer is at 28 IBU's.
Appearance: Lightly clouded, bright golden-orange body topped by a large white head that lasts really well and leaves some pretty good lacing.
Smell: Holy shit, this smells a lot like Zombie Dust (though I guess since Citra is the dominating hop, that shouldn't surprise me)!
Sweet tropical fruit dominate the nose with passion fruit, pineapple, citrus, mango, grapefruit and light litchi. Light pine resin and a leafy note (reminds me of broken vegetation) are also noted.
Taste: Again, this reminds me of Zombie Dust! Sweet malt is noted initially, but it is quickly engulfed by a wave of tropical fruity hops. Notes include: Sweet citrus, passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, light pine and a very light leafy quality.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with a medium level of smooth carbonation – very easy drinking and refreshing.
Overall: Ocean Potion is an amazing APA and in my opinion is right up there with Zombie Dust! I will have to get a few bottles of this to see if the compare to the tap version - I hope they do, otherwise I will have to drive about 1500km to get more of this hoppy nectar!
