Doylestown Brewing Company "Rutherford's Picture Perfect Blonde"
on tap at the brewery, 25 July 2015
$6 pint
5.7% alcohol by volume, and 28 IBUs
Appearance: A hazy light gold body rests gently beneath a short head of bright white foam. Limited head retention and lacing may be due to a dirty, or at least not "beer clean" glass.
Aroma: Spice, clove, grain.
Flavor: Spicy clove, grassy, and sweetly grainy around a centered stiff bitterness. It's not particularly complex, nor is it really meant to be, and it finishes pretty much as it began. There are some mild phenolics that are like vegetable, burnt plastic, and "ashtray". I can only assume that this is made with Belgian yeast.
Mouthfeel: Medium light in body with a gentle caress on the tongue.
Overall: Somewhat more interesting than your standard blonde ale. It appears to be one of their regulars so it must be doing OK. Worth trying.
