Its a decent Irish red if that is your thing. Certainly better than commercial offerings in this genre. Drinkable and likeable, just not legendary.

Apparently, it's now brewed by CoHops in Hatfield, but it's the same beer and basic label. A pint can now emptied into a clear Imperial pint glass reveals a dark reddish caramel colored liquid that's relatively bright and semi-translucent. There's not much lasting head. The aroma is a very pleasant one of sweet malt, more like toasted than roasted. It tastes mildly sweet, but finishes dryly, with a mild hop bite. One pleasant drinking experience here, although the style doesn't usually offer much of an opportunity to stand out. Beer and history are so intertwined that this is truly an interesting beer drinking experience and for it, a thanks to the brewer.

Doylestown Brewing Company "Duffy's Cut"
on tap at the brewery, 25 July 2015
$6 pint

Irish red ale. Mostly clear deep copper body beneath a light tan head. Average head retention but limited lacing. Buttery diacetyl aroma with a light toastiness. The flavor adds nuttiness, leafy hops, and caramelish grain backed by a moderate bitterness. A subtle roasty edge comes through in the dry finish. Nice. I personally don't mind diacetyl, and find it lends some beers a greater depth of character, but it's a touch strong here. Still, not bad. I certainly wouldn't mind it if they brewed this one again.
